January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and January 11 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day – a day to bring awareness to the world-wide crisis also known as modern day slavery. Members of the community are being asked to wear blue on January 11 in support of the victims of trafficking in the U. S. and worldwide.
The Meceola Human Trafficking Task Force is an all-volunteer organization with a goal to bring public awareness and education to members of the community regarding this horrific crime. Displays including informational materials can be found in libraries throughout Mecosta and Osceola counties during January as part of the Task Force’s mission. Task force members are available to speak to community organizations and groups if requested. Contact Dee Van Horn at 231-972-5737 for more information.
